Keep Your Carpet & Mats In Place!
By Mike Ragonese 1/15
I didn't glue down my buggy carpeting because I wanted it to be easily removable but after growing tired of my mats and carpet sliding forward and bunching up, it was time to address the issue. A search online brought me to two common Toyota replacement parts, shown in the picture. I bent up a few L-shaped brackets which I attached to the front of the stock seat mounting frame that is attached to the pan. Brackets could be easily re-configured for your own car if not using the stock seat rails.
I attached the brackets under the carpeting so that the mat clips passed down through the main carpets into the brackets, thereby holding the carpets in place.
Using careful measuring and templates, I located the plastic grommets in the mats to hold them in place. This all worked out great!
